Building Code II

Ensuring the safety of occupants of a building is one of the primary emphasis on why building codes were established. Building codes provide basic guidelines and measures aimed at mitigating hazards, preventing emergencies and providing safe evacuation of occupants in the case of an incident. In this week's session, our exploration of the International Building Code continues, with a particular emphasis on life safety. We will delve into the code's provisions related to fire protection, as outlined in Chapter 7 and 9, followed by an examination of the guidelines governing means of egress, detailed in Chapter 10. Additionally, we will scrutinize various strategies for achieving compliance with accessibility standards, as elucidated in Chapter 11 and the American with Disabilities Act, enhancing our understanding of how to create safer and more inclusive built environments.
