Land Use Regulations

Multiple codes influence the outcomes of design decisions. The built environment is often the outcome of regulations from the site/urban scale to the interior of the building. Week 1 will introduce you to a few select land (City Code, Zoning Ordinances… ) and building regulations (Model Codes - IBC, Federal regulations, industry standards…) and a brief history of how they came to be. The class will also broadly introduce a breakdown of the various code elements, where to obtain the code information and finally how to introduce it into the design documentation.
